yes, people are doing the math & they are tired of the cable companies putting the screws to them. the majority of the subs, not all, are people who have little or no credit and have no vested interest in the system. they pay a little up front money and when their need is met they drop it. also primestars record keeping , from my point of view , has alot to be desired.

DishNetwork announced today that they have hit the 1,000,000
subscriber mark. Does anyone know how many subscribers they
need before they become profitable? It seems like the dbs user
tends to be the type of person who spends a lot more on pay-per-
view events and other premium programming. The British direct
broadcast company has a market capitiztion of over 12 Billion
Dollars, yet DishNetwork's market cap is only about five hundred
million (and the U.S. has five times the population of the U.K.!).
I think this is a great long-term bet, but am disappointed with
the recent weakness. I also think this is the only pure direct
broadcast play.
