"You seem to be down on every positive development in the oil industry." Why the blinders?

Really? - Wasn't I just discussing what an amazing well BP and its partners (along with RIG) managed to drill in the GOM?
All I own is energy.

What I do have an issue with is when a reporter writes that this well will ease concerns about peak oil.

As far as NPE - the ball park I use are capital costs $300 - $350 million per pod producing 10k bbls/day for 30 - 40 years. With heavy differentials declining I would rather have the 30 - 40 year producing field then dealing with deep water offshore. Easy to apply new technology and in-field drill later but not with a producing field 30k feet down in 4k feet of water.
