This bit about refusing to pay taxes.......this perversion of Republicanism.......is sweeping the nation. We are breaking down.

Yeah our communities are suffering. Did you see where a lot of cities are turning off street lights because they can't afford the electric bills? Parks are going untended, libraries cutting hours, community stuff like fireworks and festivals being canceled, and even police and fire are starting to see cuts. Sports cut from schools. The list goes on and on... our communities are become 'less'. And what are we besides our communities?

Real 3rd world stuff... country is going down hill. I wonder when/if it will stop. It would have been absurd to me to think that US cities, the richest country in the world, couldn't afford to light their streets. But here we are.

If we are poor, its because the middle class has been 'raped' by the rich. I know of no other explanation that makes sense. We know that economic expansion under Bush meant the creation of mostly low paying jobs. We know that for the past 40 years or more, the rich have gotten richer at the expense of the lower classes. At the same time, American corps. have become more and more profitable and the salaries of their upper mgmt have grown exponentially. Has all of this come together to creat the perfect squeeze on the American taxpayer?

The other possibility is that the faux belief promulgated by the right that we pay too much taxes and that gov't can cut back without hurting services has been endorsed by a majority of the population, and in community after community, they are imposing their will. If so, then its more an ideological issue.

Whatever it is...the country is looking pretty shabby.
