well the gov can do like france and not have FDA approval, those steps costs the drug makers millions of dollars and years of time. The drugs will be way cheaper then and should save Obama care some money from the reduced population. Won't need death panels

It's interesting, most here rail against government care and how big the hole for Medicare is. BUT, when it comes to 50k/100k per year drug regimens, the consensus seems to be that they MUST be available.

I find the apparent obliviousness to that particular inconsistency fascinating.

But I think the point is that, if we had only private health care, there wouldn't be an inconsistency. Government wouldn't be making the decision of whether to pay or to ration so it's a non-issue. It's all about who has control, the individual or the government.

Government entry into a sector does not promote competition. Competition cannot exist without the ability to vote with your feet. If states want to socialize medicine let them. If you want to move to Massachusetts because you can get healthcare I am all for it.

As we have previously discussed one of the biggest problems with medical insurance is government mandates. Federalizing it will require people desiring to vote with their feet to emigrate.
