You have to remember that Pete Stark founded Security National Bank in Walnut Creek in 1963 and sold the bank in 1973 when he was elected to Congress.

His background as a banker helps explain why he's a "prosperity though debt" ding-a-ling just like Hawkmoon and Ronald Reagan.
