PERIOD. Your ignorance of these basics is astounding for one who purports to beleive in god. There are several problems with what you're saying. One is that most people in the third world do have their basic survival needs met nowadays. They may be poor, may live in squalor, but not starving. Second, even if third worlders were too impoverished to be capable of spirituality, that would contradict your claim that third world cultures are capable of spiritual wisdom .... as long as they're not Christian. Third, the whole premise is totally wrong and frankly snobbish. Yes, Maslow's heirarchy of needs is crap. Impoverished people aren't necessarily more animalistic or primitive and incapable of spirituality than someone from a wealthy background. where Catholic church is expanding... the very poorest areas of Africa. You believe what you want. All of Africa is poor. And yes, Christianity is growing in Africa, though the Catholic church isn't necessarily the fastest growing church there. But its one more reason for you to look down on Christianity and your own Catholic church ... its got all those primitive, ignorant, dirty people in it. You don't address Maslow's well known point. Suprise? NOT! Everybody is taught Maslows heirarchy in college and its worthless crap. Somebody should start saying it.<Wow. When third worlders convert to Christianity, they're just doing it cause the church gives them food.> Do research, then come back. Also tangential to where the church is spreading anyway... but don't that facts get in your way! I have the facts on my side. You are ignorant of whats going on in the world. You think if those stupid black or brown people are converting to Christianity, its because nuns and priests are giving them food in exchange for being trained in Christianity like pet monkeys being taught tricks. In reality, Christianity is spreading without foreign missionaries, with native preachers and ministers. And they're starting to send missionaries to the west now. <Oh my God. That is a myth and a silly one.> Yes, as is Jesus burning bush right! LOL Jesus and the burning bush. That is worthy of a laugh all right but you don't even know why. I've heard that Catholics don't read the Bible. Perhaps its true. <And you believe this stuff and diss "Bible-thumpers"! Wow, that is hilarious.> ROFMAO!! You sound like Solon laughing about Jesus walking on water!! What I said was in the East these things are known to happen. We all have our opinions on what is possible, and who can do them. Well, I guess I shouldn't complain. At least you don't dismiss Jesus' miracles, you simply think it was a trick some Hindu guru taught him. BTW, do YOU believe Jesus walked on water and burned a bush??? Yes. No. Will someone fill you in here? It won't be me. Keep bringing up Jesus's burning bush, it really shows how unlearned someone is here.<?? In 1965 the Christian population of Africa was around 25%. In 2002, it was 46% (Miller).> Yep, as I said. I know, one more reason to look down on Christianity ... 'those' people. They can't possibly be spiritual. Probably just pet monkeys learning tricks for food. And in the West, Eastern studies and practices are exploding... Yoga, Qi Gong, Buddhism, etc... Exploding? Really? I think you could count the number of serious western Buddhists with a pencil and index card. There are a smattering that latch onto some watered-down fake something or other that sounds exotic. There's a Buddhist temple near me, but they're all Cambodian immigrants. No westerners. Cause they're REAL Buddhists. No big deal... natural exchange of information and traditions... although intelligent people are fleeing Dognamtic Christianity in droves... pretty much the bottom line. Oh of course and you determine they're intelligent by whether they're Christian or not. <It seems the history of Taoism includes Taoist theocratic states, emporers declaring LaoTse divine and their ancestor, scriptures being ordered destroyed. Gee. > LOL, guy... you missed the whole point... THERE WAS NO INSTITUTION TO CONTROL like the Catholic Church! Taoism was all over the place, hidden away by sages and monks... there was no central 'church' of taoism... ARE YOU STUPID, or just aren't reading??? No, I actually learn things by reading. You seem oblivious to that. What part of "theocratic state" don't you understand? Yes there was an institution of control or there couldn't have been a theocratic state. Similarly in another era when Taoist works were suppressed, there was an institution of control there too.If you don't beleive that the Tao te Ching is a good source of information vs the Bible, just say so... it's OK! I haven't said anything of the sort. There is some general philosophical wisdom there - for example: "To know you have enough is to be rich.”" That one probably conflicts with Maslow's heirarchy of needs though. "He who overcomes others is strong, but he who overcomes himself is mighty." "A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step." "Prepare for the difficult while it is still easy. Deal with the big while it is still small."<I think the 'dark ages' were simply the normal lot of most of humanity including the ancient Asian civilizations and that Asian cultures are a lot more similar in these respects to ours than you think. > Yes, you think all sorts of fairy tails!! Not really. Do you think the eastern countries only became so poor in your view they are incapable of spirituality in modern times? Poverty has been the normal characteristic of most of humanity throughout history.< confess not have no personal knowledge of Catholic teachings. > Right.. don't know your own religions history I've said I'm not Catholic. So that isn't true. The charge is funny after the burning bush stuff btw.... but spew all this CRAP about other religions you know EVERN LESS about. You know, you shouldn't say things like this when you are so profoundly ignorant yourself. Your references to Jesus and the burning bush reveal your own knowledge of Jesus and the NT is lower than that of a Sunday school child. I hardly think you know more about other faiths than you do your "own". Point stands... in the educated world interest in Christianity is plummeting (has been... Europe is practically secular!) Who cares if Europe is secular. Which it is. Oh some folks care - those who know Europeans are the people who count, not like those ignorant brown and black skinned folk.
