They were apparently assuming that Republicans and conservatives could be won over by winning over "business interests," as if free market and anti-government positions were just rhetorical cover for policy making at the behest of business.

What does he mean, "as if"? This is what Dems truly believe of Republicans. Should it surprise anybody they act on their beliefs? It would be a delicious irony if their echo-chamber existence has finally caught up with them.

Good point. We're supposed to be slavish followers of the capitalist corporate overlords so if they cut deals with the corporate overlords the right will follow, being mind-numbed robots led around by their corporate masters. Ha ha.

I believe small business folks give more money to Republicans now than the big boys. And they are more faithful voters. Big business gives money to whomever is in power and votes democrat.
