"CJ, we all know that you want to return to the Carter years."

I am hoping the smiley was because you are joking.

I never said such a thing. Stagflation is no fun, and I remember it well. I have pointed out that the Carter years were not all bad, but that is a different topic. Certainly, if we had kept his energy policy, we would be in much better shape now.

Need to start a list of symptoms of a yellow dog democrat...

1) The Carter years weren't all bad...

2) There are not any Republicans I would vote for...

3) I use to be a Republican...

4) I'm an Independent...

5) The media isn't biased...

I can't speak for the others, but Jimmuh ( whom I didn't vote for - I skipped that election ) was a MAJOR disappointment. But, in retrospect, he was a pretty decent president in what he DID. He was just a lousy leader, as far as inspiring anyone to follow him. He was depressing.

I hated that he didn't just nuke Tehran when they took our embassy hostage, or at least invade Iran. I hated that he did so little to free them, and what he DID try was so late and ineffective.

But, in retrospect, all those hostages, none of whom died, owe their lives to him. Because, he acted like a Christian, which he was. I don't think we should have actual, practicing Christians as presidents. Just the normal phony Christians paying lip service.

Also, he TRIED to wean us off oil, and foretold the consequences. The fact that he was a lousy leader and Americans just don't want to hear it caused him to fail.

The sad economy during his term was really Nixon and Ford's fault, not Carter's. Nixon let the economy just go to hell during Watergate, and Ford did nothing to fix it. Carter just started the bitter Volker medicine that cured it.
