"Like UVA, Wake Forest, GT and Duke ?"

If they require the profs to schlep a laptop back and forth, yeah.

"so the professors stand behind a podium and lecture, how many are in a class?"

Grad level? Depends on the course. Bjorn tends to have some pretty large classes. Other courses, a lot smaller. In general, though, the prof isn't standing behind the podium, that is just where the electronics are. It is also helpful when the students give presentations. They just have to log into their accounts instead of handling laptops, USB drives and other more primitive methods.

"if you go to a school where there is only 10-15 in a class why do you need a podium ?"

That would be a pretty small school.
