The Obama White House: Attack of the Closet Totalitarians

September 5th, 2009 Author: Scott Michaels

We always suspected it, right?

With each new revelation in the Van Jones saga – more footage was found today in which he referred to then-President George W. Bush as being like a crackhead over his comfort with oil as an energy source — it appears that his belief system isn’t really anything out of the ordinary for a White House and a President who, at heart, come across as a ”do as I say, or else” bunch of closet totalitarians.

Really, we can see it in almost every piece of legislation — passed or sitting and awaiting passage — put forth by the Obama people. They’re littered with all sorts of compulsory ”for your own good and the good of others” -type dictates couched in the mushy-headed liberal double-speak we’ve all come to know and love.

Putting aside the billions upon billions of dollars in bribes to “do what’s right” that are scattered all over the economic stimulus bill, the liberal-totalitarian push gains steam in much of the carbon cap-and-trade bill.

There are no actual threats of overt violence against those who refuse to abide, but plenty of promise of monetary penalty and, ultimately, a loss of business and gradual erosion of personal freedoms, which is the way so-called “peace-loving peoples” try to pull off what they fear to do through guns and revolution.

And it seems like pretty much everybody in this White House wants to do “what’s best for us,” don’t they? From working very hard to convince us that little proletariat-mobiles are the cars we really should be driving — and if we don’t drive them, well…it’s best not to consider the consequences for such un-ecological decisions, hmmmmm?

And that’s just the start of things. This huge push to convince us that the sky is really and truly falling this time and that it’s necessary for us all to do the right thing when it comes to health care for the masses RIGHT NOW, is nothing but a way to erase the last vestiges of independence Americans enjoy. Once they have you dependent on them for your health, that’s pretty much game, set and match.

Consider how thorougly such totalitarian belief has managed to insinuate itself within society. At almost every chokepoint — academia, the media, government bureaucracies at all levels and especially in the primary through high school world — closet totalitarians attempt to cajole, cudgel and compel people into accepting that they should be subservient to a greater good; whether they like it or not.

Hope, though, springs eternal. And certainly Barack Obama and his fellow travelers in the Congress have found over the last month that maybe it’s possible they’ve finally gone too far, and that they weren’t actually given carte blanche to impose by executive and legislative fiat — without even bothering to attempt to explain to people why they felt they had the right to do so — what they want, when they want; even if it’s “for our own good.”
