DEC bites the dust---Market meltdown expected today

Palmer to reorient company toward "services".

Very interesting article in WSJ that shows just what really goes on behind the scene. REAL CEO's talk to other about buyouts. Notice how Gertsner evaluated acquiring DEC.

What apparently destroyed DEC was Palmer's competitive juices with CPQ. He resisted their 10 billion offer---a match made in heaven and even now has come up with a model of competing with them.

DEC is now going to become a box company.

Give me a break.

Hello Don,

I agree with your strategy. Sorry if I sounded apathetic in my post, in my role at Novell I am bound by contract to support one company 100% of the time.

I am not employed to go to customers and say "hey what are you using, oh.. have you tried this?" we have people who already do that very well. I talk to the pre-sales people who visit sites/man shows/do presentations and we have success stories every day.

This does not prevent me from being pro-active. I am currently involved (outside work/my own time/outside normal role) in setting up a reference site for IWSB, I shout here when I see something technically wrong and I buy stock outside the company scheme.

I understand yours and other investors frustration but, believe me a lot of people are working hard to push the price up.

PS Maybe I should have mailed Gerald Privately ;-)
