i had aches, high fever and then chills, very weak.. lungs clear, sinus clear, ears not plugged, throat fine, sunday morning after taking basic over the counter for fever i took my temp and it was 103.4 figure for a 66 year old that was high. i called my doctor.. got a return call from a nurse think the call was hospice to come out to house to see my wife(passed on). told her my situation and she said she couldn't recommend anything without an exam.. Labor day weekend? every close and i usually get sick over long holidays,, even i hardly ever do get sick.

so i go to cvs notice this site set up by nurse , station for quick exam , flue shot etc. she listens to what is going on and makes a call at premier immediate medical care about a mile down the street. she felt i should have xray on lungs to make sure nothing going on and blood work. when i get there the place is about empty, i am sure patients in rooms. the place is wonderful. i complete a bunch of forms already cleared by nurse at cvs for medicare and supplement aetna. next blood work.. then xray.. then doctor physcial... in the end i have higher white cell count but anything big time. going to put me on prescription drug to avoid it spreading to sinus , ears.. etc... lungs in great condition.. maybe small sign of smoking forty five years ok.. dr said that is nothing.

most all the results of blood works xrays are immediate... some blood work he said he call me on Tues. figures everything shut down today monday.

what struck me was we need more of this kind of medical care vs hospital expense. i cannot even think if i went to one of the three local hospitals or downtown the costs and lost time.

i would like your opinion on these new to me setups... i loved it , two miles from my house. cvs one mile from my house.. later the nurse at cvs called to see how i was doing... then my dr at un of penn nurse called later in the day to see how i was doing. she found it interesting that i was able to so quickly get every done and medication. i told her they will forward all records on.

Skinowski, read your own words and tell me that the picture that you have painted is not America in the last two years.

<<However, Canada is a much more European nation that the US. Europeans traditionally have strong, centralized governments. Sometimes that worked well for them, but many times those strong governments would get out of control, and things would end up, as we all know, in disaster.

The US is not like that. The entire nation was founded on the idea of limited government. Indeed, it was founded as a counterstatement to the European tradition. And you know what? -- it worked for us. Most of us are not ready to give up yet.

There are many different ways to solve problems -- and the way of Big Government is simply NOT the American way..

American greed, lacking government regulation, brought the world economy to it's knees.FACT...hoohah

Edit..
More scheming.More bundling. Mortgage bundling was a flop so lets try bundles of Life Insurance.

<<< The entire nation was founded on the idea of limited government. >>>

It all depends on how you define limited. Nevertheless, it was more about checks and balances and that government does not achieve powers that are absolute.

In any case, in the nearly 250 years or so since the founding there have been advances both here and in Europe. All Europeans have, more or less, the same freedoms and rights that we have. In that time, we have also abolished slavery and women have made progress in achieving equal rights.

It is not a case of having government involvement or not having government involvement. It is about compromise. There are things that government can do better and there are things you don't want government to have anything to do with.

I grant you, I don't want government to have anything to do with a lot more than I want government involved in but there are essential services where we need government to step in - like in national defense and keeping us safe on a day in and day out basis, providing large scale disaster relief, health care for all citizens, and educating everyone (whether they want it or not - GGG).
