This is the war we liberals have fought with the dogmatists (read conservatives, they are the same the world over) since the beginning of time.

I copied it down from the inside jacket of Will Durants volume The Life Of Greece:

""The persistent effort to subordinate Fancy to Reason is the dominate quality of the Greek mind.

Therefore Greek literature is modern, or rather contemporary, we find it hard to understand Dante or Milton, but Euripides and Thucydides are kin to us mentally and belong to our ages.

This is because, though myths may differ, reason remains the same and the life of reason makes brothers of its lovers in all times and everywhere.""

It is like when they claim they've verified something on Snopes. When you actually check it, odds are huge that they haven't.

Your first clue they haven't checked Snopes is when they misspell it and call it Slopes. I can't tell you how many times they make that very same error.

In fact, my sister just sent me an email sent by a woman winger who insists she always checks Slopes before emailing something [bad] about Obama.
