Doesn't everyone understand that we are already giving coverage to illegal aliens?
Yes! and it's about time we stopped!

They, and anyone else without insurance, show up in the ER, the MD on call has to take on the case,
And why is that? Because the government mandates it. More evidence that it is government meddling in healthcare that has messed it up in the first place.

they get treated and there is no recourse to bill them because they usually don't even have a valid address.

How about we require them to show a valid passport and we send the bill to their government. If they don't want to show a passport, sorry charlie. That's not too unreasonable and gives them a chance to earn some of the compassion.

Yeah, that's the ticket, lets not do anything and just let the whole system break down,
Let's do something completely different, rather than throwing dollar bills out of helicopters, let's address the real problem. They shouldn't be here in the first place. If they are here illegally, ship them home. And then beef up the border so they can't get back unless they are legit. A 20' fence on the entire length of our southern border would cost less than the healthcare reforms being put on the table. Ship em home and keep em out!!!

What planet do you live on if you think the system is working for the majority of people?
Earth

It works for the thin slice of America that have their premiums paid for by businesses due to the huge subsidy of no taxation.
Now that's a hoot! not getting taxed is now considered a subsidy.

Then there is the large percentage on Medicare. They actually have it pretty good. BUT WAIT A MINUTE, that is government run single payer system those f#cking communist senior citizen bastards.
We pay 1.45% of our earnings to pay for medicare. No reason we couldn't voluntarily be paying that into a senior care insurance plan for our golden years. Different companies would have different plans and there could be competition and profits and choice.

OR!!!! I have another plan. All of the rich hollywood types can make a real pledge to help uninsured people. You could have the Kutcher/Moore Illegal Alien fund. The Red Hot Chili Pepper "It's not just for Whales" fund. And the Studdog "I'll worry about doing my part and you worry about doing your part" fund.

There's lots of really rich democrats out there. Let them start paying for this stuff voluntarily.

(I do like the passport requirement and billing back to the country of origin method).
