Yes, Micky Kaus has said that he is waiting for the day when a major politician resigns completely out-of-the-blue to anyone who has been getting his news from newspapers. Only the Internet news readers will have been following the controversy as it builds.

John Edwards' confession of infidelity and Van Jones' resignation almost qualify, since both of those were totally out-of-the-blue to NYT readers. But I don't think either of these figures are quite major enough to make Mickey Kaus' grade. But the day is coming, that is certain. None of the papers show the slightest inclination to do anything but double down on their partisan bets.

The atrocity is that we have to vet too much main stream media.
