I am VERY HAPPY to be incorrect! I wish I could be incorrect more often about things like this. Thank you very much.

If I paid $50 in commission, would Datek guarantee me a 20% profit on every trade? ;)

Time to Cover... whenever...

Just listened into the ZITL conference call, perfect way
to loosen up for Seinfeld, or the 3 stooges. It got me to
think I may want to cover my short pretty soon, as it
tanks-to-target.

"Due to current events," however, my portfolio's
"Availiable Cash" is 0, and my "Current Buying Power"
is way negative.

Despite these totals, can I buy shares to cover?

thanks, anyone.

/k1b0

*** I think I can --- I just entered an limit order to buy
ZITL at $5, and it seems to have been accepted. Evidently,
the amount needed to cover any outstanding short is already
accounted for in the totals? Muhaha, I'm laughing too hard
after the conf call to calculate.

TO DATEK>>>RE:Slowdown on express server..
Over the last couple months i have noticed quite a slowdown on the express server...
I used to enter a order and within a few seconds it would show processing ect with an execution right away..
Lateley it seems quite a bit slower..going into minutes at times..
and often taking quite a while even to show processing..
Is another express server being considered? Or will these new XYZ servers be taking some of the load off the express server?
I am a daytrader and really like the no confirm feature of the express server..
Thanks for your response!!

Peter or anybody with "inside" info,

I wondered about this for some time. What happens when Instinet in on the inside market and Datek's customer enters a crossing order? I would expect that a firm should either execute the trade directly on the Instinet or use Selectnet linkage with Instinet to execute the trade.

There is however a question about Datek. Datek sponsors Instinet's competition, Island. I also heard that Instinet denied Datek direct access. Datek doesn't like Instinet. Instinet is quite expensive. For any sizable trade Instinet + Selectnet charges would come out to more than $9.99.

So, is Datek losing money on market orders or buys at ask/sells at bid when INCA is on the inside market (which occurs quite frequently) or is there some other option I'm missing?
