It was mostly Saudis and Egyptians, but it wasn't Saudi Arabia or Egypt. The perps where trained in Afghanistan, the attacks where authorized by people in Afghanistan at the time, funded by an organization operating freely in Afghanistan with the support of the Afghan government of the time.

"It was mainly Saudis", or "Saudis and Egyptians" doesn't really matter much. If it was a bunch of people from New Jersey but every other aspect was identical that would have provided no reason to not attack the Taliban and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

offer to help rebuild their countries via UNARMED aid workers and move on.

So that the aid workers can get abducted or killed and the work they did destroyed? You need to have a certain level of security for rebuilding to be successful.

If we get out of Afghanistan the Taliban would overrun it again in 6 months.

They'd set up their "Sharia" government again and would gradually move into Pakistan.

You'd see a Million Afghanis killed almost immediately. Forget the women and girls there, they'd be sold off to the guy with the most goats to spend.

If the U.S. is going to STAND for anything then it's got to STAND for something or our word and credibility will be worth NOTHING.

I'd rather get out of N. Korea than Afghanistan. At least THEY have the means to defend themselves to some extent.
