The depression wasn't over by 1940. Unemployment was still insanely high in 1940 (about 15%).

The war caused the depression to end, but it wasn't just the spending. It was a total attitude change on the parts of the American people, which resulted in a surge in the confidence and nationalism.

The spending put a lot of people to work -- no doubt. But it also left the country massively in debt, and some economists attribute the 25 year period of inflation that followed WWII to the massive expenditures during the war. Which would make some sense.

I recommend you stay out of this. CJ is already in up to his neck. You won't last 30 seconds in this argument.
