Goldman Sachs upgraded at JMP

>>>While we are at it, lets give each other a pat on the back and an upgrade, or two, or three.<<<

BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- JMP Securities analyst Michael Hecht on Wednesday upgraded Goldman Sachs Group Inc. to market outperform from market perform and raised his earnings estimate for the second half of 2009. Although still concerned about surging profits in fixed-income sales and trading being sustainable in 2010, Hecht has "increased conviction" in the outlook for the second half of 2009 as trading spreads remain wider than normal and with inherent earnings power from compensation accrual. Separately, the JMP analyst kept his market outperform rating on rival Morgan Stanley but scaled back his earnings forecast for the back half of 2009.
