Could you give us the the names of some of those in the most other countries category?

Just about any. I can't name one where that wouldn't be the case.

For example, an indigent brought into any ER in the country with a suspicion of a head injury will get an IMMEDIATE CT. And he could end up with a $10,000 work up. Happens every day.

The same guy can walk into an ER with another condition and get treatment. Even if he was there a month ago and still has an unpaid bill.

These people get a reasonable level of care. I'm not saying it is ideal, and I would strongly support the establishment of 250-500 primary care clinics around the country funded by government which would do this work for lower cost, including drug dispensary (generics only) for these people. For the kind of money we're talking about we can easily afford this -- you could do this for a few billion a year and solve a lot of the primary care problem. Facilities like this can be staffed with PAs and NPs and could be run by private companies but publicly funded.

But as it stands today, almost anyone can get a reasonable level of care. The tough cases are chronic illness, and frankly, the solution other countries seem to be trending toward on that is to simply deny care.

The first thing that needs to happen is for the debate to be an honest one. And we haven't gotten that. The Left is lying all over the place to get its way. The Right, to a lesser extent, is practicing "defensive lying", but nonetheless dishonesty.

When we have Democrats talking about ramming this through on a vote of only half the Senate, you're not getting a solution, you're getting a political ideology.
