You can't have it both ways. Better health care cost more money and that a shorter life span caused by bad behavior saves money.

Sorry, I'm still not understanding your point. Are you suggesting that the government get not only in the health care business but also get in the business of telling me what I can and cannot eat?


My contention is that a better health care system costs more money and that bad behavior increases those costs. Reduce bad behavior (poor diet) saves money.


I totally agree and wouldn't disagree with the government spending some money -- if it could be shown to be cost effective -- to get people to modify unhealthy behaviors (I think they already do quite a bit of that).
