Pretty much. I don't distinguish between "real scientific journals" and magazines like the one in question and most people don't.

I am sure there's a difference thats important to you. The type of journals you're probably meaning are read only by a handful of folks, don't exist out of university libraries, and the general public don't even know exist. I consider the popular conceptions of science in our society important.
