Elroy, I use XP as well and have an 'appearance' tab

Another guess...

I have a Nvidia video card model that has some display properties that I can change. Might check yours if you have one. Might be able to get to it by way of Control Panel.

While your in the Control Panel, open Display. That should get you to the Appearance menu too.

Edit: As far as the resolution issue. I meant to add that we were talking about the Monitor itself, not the computer. Just wanted to make sure there was no confusion about that. My Monitor has buttons that lead to menus to adjust settings. Thought you might have the same.
