Hi kw--I understand your frustration. I also have accounts with both E-Trade and Fidelity, as well as Datek and FarSight. I know how bad online brokerages can be. Unfortunately, if you read the fine print of your account agreements, you'll see that they protect themselves against liability quite effectively.

You may have heard me preach about E-Trade to Electric, so I'll just briefly recap by saying that any E-Trade trader should get a CompuServe account and work the E-Trade terminal system offered through CompuServe. The system is separate from the Web interface. I have traded like a bandit on days when every other online trader has been paralyzed.

Good luck!

Hey Kevin,

Just what the doctor ordered.

I was wondering if there was a web site set up for logging complaints to show the magnitude of the problem (yeah, I'm dreaming).

msnbc.com

Let 'em have it.
