That's the real problem. Anyone can kick up a fuss by spouting total BS, and the cable news morons jump on the "controversy" it supposedly creates, then they build up more controversy which has to be reported on and so on. It's one of the totally bankrupt dimensions to our political debate right now. Any optimism I had for a rational, centrist approach to public policy issues drowned in the 24/7 pissing matches from screamers and morons. The best Obama can do at this point is to try to weld together sensible legislation once the worst of the carnage is over on each issue. If he succeeds with healthcare, he will have a better chance of surviving the lunatic shitstorm that immigration and cap and trade will incite. The cable news whores will love those two.
