Alphonso, err.... Mr. "Short and Proud" - I don't live on these boards as much as you, but I recall you covered your BIG short position right smack in the middle of the last round of IBM takeover rumors in late August. The reasons for your move had something to do with - as I recall - an "inside source" concerning the "real negotiations".

So that means you were "flat and proud" for a period of time. Hummmm??? So now that you are no longer "flat and proud" would you care to share with us the reasons why you found your shorts and pride once again. Isn't it quite odd that you fell in with all the other fools for the IBM BS, but here we are 2+ months later and all the raw spit nastiness is back as you claim once again to be short. When and at what price did you short?

In the middle of all that craziness, I went on record to ignore the IBM/BS and recommended that the short term flippers fade Novell from $9 on up. But this is against my very committed longstanding positon that Novell, as an investment, will come back and surprise everyone. Quite frankly, I regard being "short and proud" Novell at this point to be quite foolish. Book, real estate, plus the enterprise value of Novell alone is worth far more than the current price of $8 and change.

Networks are exploding all over the world. Novell is finding direction even in the face of their completely evaporating low-end market share to NT. Novell already HAS a network and it will grow and thrive as Networks continue to explode and thrive. There will be a place for NT, but among big clients Novell will not de deserted in the enterprise market. I like Schmidt. There is a "New Novell" out there that's going to take a big bite from the ass of every proud short player out there. Keep listening to those "sources" of yours - you'll certainly need them when the time comes.

Good luck my friend.
