Jay you sound like your finger is caught in a door.

Obama's policies must be causing real pain in China and Hong Kong.

hmmmm... i don't think you gave the prior president nearly as much airtime as you have this one, especially when you consider the present one has only been around, not even a year.

as to trying to talk about the politics.. that's rather pointless as policy results are the same. and both used the same men to run their teams on the economics front and on the war front, and both their parties voted for the suspension of basic constitutional rights, both their justice departments have fought investigation on the grounds of national security, etc etc etc etc etc........... so what real points are you making after all? I might add, the present one hasn't raised taxes yet either, so, there is, as yet, almost no distinctive difference between the old guard and the new. virtually none.

"...and so the altruistic duty still must be done...".

The question is why should we disillusioned Americans have any confidence in a pithy, baja-Chinese prognosticator, without any apparent dog in this fight?

When an inscrutable Sino-Glen Beck appears, lobbing the same sort of turds in the public opinion punch bowl as Joe Wilson, and then fails to provide any sort of meaningful rationale, the conclusion that the real issue is racism is hard to avoid.

Such signature ignorance, once identified in matters of race, is naturally assumed to be present in the range of utterances by a member so afflicted.

LOL Jay, .. Having some troubles :O) The system is flawed and no matter who is 'in charge' it won't matter is not a popular sentiment.. Seems Americans don't like to trust their government to a point much stronger than us Canucks.. and yet many it appears are at a point where they 'want' to trust it.. Saying it's 6 of one or half a dozen of the other is not making you more popular I see LOL.. Mr. Obama really has a handicap of such high expectation placed upon him.. I'll remain on the hopeful side, understanding what a crappy game of compromise that democracy is.. reality will will likely be revealed before the second term .. whichever way it goes..

Global rebalancing is painful, long and drawn out..
