i think he is academically smarter than the previous wastrel, but that means little in every sense,

his mouth is quicker, more flowery, and appeals to the lowest common denominator, therefore dangerous

but, of course, the previous wastrel also appealed to the lowest common but different denominator

natural consequence of universal suffrage
