Just talking ! Tom, I'm impressed with how your silver stocks (USA, HL) are outperforming silver. Of course they are also performing well against cash.... but what isn't ? (Your silver stocks are even outperforming my favourite "others"). Onepath made the point that one of the causes of the large short position in gold could be pro's shorting bullion to buy leveraged gold common shares... i.e a form of hedging. I tried that myself shorting GLD and using the proceeds to buy shares of Goldcorp. My position lost slightly as gold initially dropped but quickly regained value as gold recovered. I closed the position prematurely because of baseless margin concerns... but I was impressed at the resulting low-risk profit . What's the short position in silver ? (Maybe ABX should have left its gold shorts alone and used the money to buy shares of G!.. lol)
