Not really. In terms of purchasing power, it went down despite staying the same in dollar terms.

Most investors are clueless concerning the amount of gains necessary to make a true profit based on purchasing power.

Stasis stinks.

If you had owned the Dow components, one would have been AIG and another GM.

Meaning there would have been large losses.
