Sarah Onyango Obama and Sarah Obama are different people. and grand ma lived in the 3rd largest city, so I think they had ways to communicate with the outside world. the ability to communicate, does not mean that it was an easy or practical thing to do in 1961. Even if they had a phone in the village that was easily accessible, it still takes a bunch of other unlikely sequences of events to make that birth announcement show up in the local honolulu newspaper.
