career politician...govt is eternal I once met a former ID state legislator who'd spent some terms trying to rationalize govt., bring it under control. He reached the conclusion that was a futile effort. When I met him he specialized in advising local agencies how to hornswoggle more funds. He figured the best he could do was to help neighbors get more plunder. The spirits animating the American Revolution may have been a temporary blip. Maybe there's something in our DNA that trumps analysis and reason?
