But that would not happen unless there were an initiative to nationalize them. Doctors wouldn't likely initiate such an initiative. So where would it come from and what would trigger it?

From the same half regulation that caused the destruction California's energy sector. When all of the competent foreign born medical professionals emigrate to gain richer rewards and Americans won't practice something will have to be done.

Video of Dr Andrew Weil on Larry King. He says that the proposal is off base, that we need to change our system of medicine away from disease management, and that the proposal merely wants to get more people into the current broken system.
