I would have allowed the bankruptcies to go forward under the applicable rules.

I think the Constitution should have been respected and that the union shouldn't have been given preferential treatment in bankruptcy over creditors who were entitled to the preference. I wouldn't have flouted the rule of law just to pad the pockets of political supporters.

I don't think it was appropriate to pour even more money into the auto industry through cash for clunkers, which will effectively make no difference because the market for new cars was just accelerated. It was also utter wastefulness to require destruction of the so-called clunkers.

I would have required more belt tightening from the union, from the rank and file worker to the heads golfing on their expensive private courses.

I wouldn't be talking about controlling the income of every American other than union workers and government workers, just so that I can get re-elected.
