"You were questioning my assertion that a government takeover of the healthcare system would result in systematic decisions to make healthcare unavailable for certain groups such as the elderly."

Yes, and I still do. I find no reason to change my mind.

Yet it is in the proposed legislation. It required someone high profile like Sarah Palin to point it out before democrats were willing to consider removing it.

Regardless of what you believe the expanding budget shortfall will require it. I consider the possibility that it would not happen to be minute.

"From my perspective, the path we are on is towards the failed system that pragmatism is now correcting in other countries."

Since pragmatism is correcting the situation in other countries, my take is that we would go to school off them after a while. You know how the intellectuals tend to follow France. <g>

Obama and the people of like mind he surrounds himself with consider the past to be more ideal than the pragmatic changes being made. He and they are socialists.

"You were challenging most vehemently that abuses by individuals would be a problem."

And I still do. Then and now I recognize the potential for individuals to abuse. It could happen. But not on a large scale. Sure, it shouldn't happen at all

Yet it does happen on a large scale. Virtually every conservative organization in America was investigated by the IRS during the Clinton years. Obviously abusive and criminal organization from the liberal fold were immune. Nothing like that happened during the Bush 43 years. Obama's Chief of Staff has made multiple statements that lead people to believe he would take the Clinton path.

Just look at the example posted on this subject about government abuse in Manassass:
