Credit reports are too readily shared. This is just another cherry-picking tactic by insurance cos. Akin to screening for pre-existing conditions. Imagine if every small business had the information and resources at their disposal that these farkin insurance companies have on potential customers. Too many privileged industries are capturing the luxury and legal right to say we won't even consider doing business with you until you disclose your private information.

Should fast food, liquor stores, and other risky purveyors be able to deny serving someone with a past history of heart disease or alcoholism? Car rental agencies don't check driving histories- yet.

What if I immediately know the past buying history, income level, credit history, and other private information of everyone entering my store? Surely couldn't hurt.

There's a correlation between credit score and risk because people living with financial stress become careless and reckless,

Or is it the other way around?

My very first car was destroyed by a drunk driver, around 2 am in the morning. It was parked at the time, the guy took out three cars and although several people got his licence number it turned out to be a fake plate and he got away. One of my clients at the time told me that in fact it was my fault in that if I hadn't been out drinking at a bar at 2 am my car never would have been in his path. At the time I thought the comment was totally unreasonable, but over time I realized he was right. This is why single men have a higher accident rate than married ones. It is hard to be in an accident when your car is parked in the garage every night.
