LJ,

<If you want to solve the problem, make it illegal for lobbyists and elected officials to meet privately. Simply require that all meetings be open to the public, or recorded and placed on the internet within 24 hours. Any correspondence should likewise be posted to the internet.>

A simply magnificent idea. My preference is still to give them a trial for GRAND GRAND larceny and lock up both the lobbyist and clowngressperson they bribed, but I'd settle for public scrutiny.

To dream.

Sounds great, but you would have lobbyists screaming "First Amendment" (...petition the Government for a redress of grievances). I doubt any court will disagree, especially since the lobbyists' lawyers will be very well financed.

Pure fantasy. You like your dreams, but decry what other countries see as common sense as "a perversion of justice" that takes away "free speech rights".

Good luck.

>>If you want to solve the problem<<

that's just it - the law makers don't want to solve the problem (It is our problem and their midas touch, mind you) and the people can't make the laws directly.
