I haven't argued it didn't increase. However, the value of the tax cuts in getting the economy rolling -- as well as Volcker's tightening -- was far more important than the detraction of increased spending.

Reagan's increases in real dollars were not nearly so bad as he is often charged with. Again, Carter's spending was as out of control as anyone's.

Compaired to Obama's spending it didn't increase much. But then in comparison neither did King Louis.
