I'm not talking about currently living microorganisms Hugh. Many microorganisms can survive freezing, and it's not know how long they can live frozen. Maybe forever.

We retrieved the 1918 flu virus from frozen corpses in the arctic, to study. So did the Russians. Other microorganisms have been found in ice core samples, some hundreds of thousands of years old.
