I would go a step further. I believe that government regulators have been "captured" by Wall Street and the "revolving door".

Thus, it's not just the "big money" folks who need to go to jail, but some of those government officials who facilitated these frauds/ponzi schemes.

How can it be that Bernie Madoff's niece, who was married to an SEC official, could act as Madoff's compliance officer and not get jail time? And what role did her husband play in running interference against that ponzi scheme being properly investigated?

Yes.. regulatory and criminal process ARE a role for "big government". They help to insure that a criminal activities are severely punished.

So apparently, in that regard, we don't have enough "big government".. ;0)
