Dark unsweetened chocolate. It thins blood, much like the salicylate foods, such as cayenne, hawthorne, curry powder, paprika, capsicum, thyme, garam masala, rosemary, blue & black berries and other fruit, tea, licorice, peppermint, honey, alfalfa, broad bean, artichoke, broccoli, spinach, squash, sweet potato, tomato, gherkin, endive, green pepper, chicory, mushroom, radish, zuchinni, corn, cucumber, water chestnut, watercress, olives, chile, asparagus, parsely, beetroot, almonds, peanuts, cumin, ginger, mace, mint, cinnamon, celery, sage, paprika, oregano, turmeric, thyme, allspice, aniseed, tarragon, worcestershire, rum, champagne, wine, sherry, cointreau, tia maria, fenugreek, five spice, mustard, canella, dill, pepper, walnuts, granny smith apples, avocado, figs, grapes, tangelo, mulberry, pine nuts, pistachio.

I find it odd you say your cholesterol is low, and arteries clear. Check your HDL. You want to be over 1.0 or 38 American. You also need a good ratio of total cholesterol to HDL. Perhaps some of your other ratios are off, as in your LDL ratios. Berkely has the best lab tests for this. I would recommend Niacin if your HDL is low. That, EPA/DHA-fish oil and exercise. Niacin is about the only substance that will increase HDL to any degree. Pantethine will too, but not as much. The statins are behind both of them by a bit. Increasing your HDL may be the most beneficial thing you can do.

It sounds like you got stressed and have soft cholesterol, which with to arterial spasm led to a travelling clot/thromb, or you don't really know your numbers or arterial health. Or you could be one of those whose endocrine system is overamped. Never the lessor, you need to investigate ways to keep BP in check. You should be aiming at trying to get below 120/70. I would recommend magnesium big time, and try to change your diet. People who eat fish 5 times a week, especially north sea fish and salmon have 40% less chance of heart attack. The stats are better than for lipitor. I would consider the first link in my last post where I list over the counter substances that alleviate most circulatory conditions. It cannot hurt. In fact the true stats on niacin therapy, which there is a way to tolerate, (i.e. a regimen to become acclimatized using aspirin and vitamin C) is that people who stay on the regimen, whose blood sugar does not go out of whack, (which is 99% of people), have experienced a 90% reduction in cardiac events. The trick is staying on it. Hoffer the MD who discovered the treatment in 1955, and used it on heart patients and schizophrenics, died recently. It is still considered one of the better treatments for preventing heart attack and reducing cholesterol.

Lipitor, Lovastatin et al:

It is acknowledged that the statin drugs do stabilize the endothelium. There is a price you pay for using them, and I highly recommend COq10 if you do. Even if you don't use statins I recommend COQ10. It will forestall any side effects from the statins probably.

Diet, no matter the cause of your condition, is considered a major therapy. I recommend an "extreme" mediterranean diet, with a strong organic tinge. I no longer eat fats, such as butter, or sugars, or white carbs. I eat no meats, except fish. I eat no eggs. I eat nothing that is not whole wheat and no vegetable oils at all except for olive oil. I eat nothing made with canola oil. That eliminates most breads, including a lot of whole grain stuff out there. I eat lots of oats, and fruit and veggies. Green veggies, of the leafy kind are best for heart health, as they eliminate the calcium from the arteries. I have found this works and works well. It has resulted in a dramatic improvement in my health.

Everybody who has a laissez faire bad diet says exactly the same thing. They are "trying" to eat right. Well you don't try, you just do. And first you have to know what to do. This is the hard part as doctors don't know shishkabob from their secretary's elbow about diet. Dash diets and other partial solutions don't work at all. The only thing that works is total whole wheat, no canned food, no salt, no sugar, no white food, no veggie oil, no fat, no meat, organic, fish and veggies, with sparse calories. And stick to it 1000%. There can be no cheating at all if you want to make 90%. Once in a while becomes all the time in foods. I would cut out coffee and substitute tea instead. No more donuts. No more cake. NO more cookies. No more white bread and butter. NO more salted crackers. No more snack foods. There are 4 things I can eat from a 7-11. Bottled water, orange juice, apple juice, and sardines in water. All else has as skull and cross bones on it for me.

All spices are good. Good for the heart and good for the stomach. Most fruit is good. I can't think of any that isn't.

If you are interested in living, read the posts on that site. It forms a strategy of diet and substances that work to reduce the chances of myocardial infarction. I would put it over most advice you are going to get from most people, as it has been tested with numbers, and health of an individual who has no reason to lie and every reason to do it in order to be alive.
