Brazil will taker the slack. Crown planning third Brazil plant

Crown Holdings Inc. will invest $60 million to construct a new manufacturing plant in Brazil to meet growing demand in that region.

The Philadelphia company’s Brazilian subsidiary, Crown Embalagens S.A., will build the factory in southern Brazil to accommodate growing demand for aluminum cans, the company said. The facility is scheduled to be up and running in the second quarter of 2011 and will have an initial annual capacity of 700 million cans. It will be the third can manufacturing facility it has in Brazil.

The company's annual production capacity in 2011 will be roughly 4 billion cans.
