The "age of reason" which brought us out fo the "Dark Ages" was based on an increase in education. YOu look around the world and the more educated the country the more humane and moral it is and the bigger chance it will have a democracy. Education. It takes education to even understand democracy. Think about it. This is the most educated the human species has ever been and look at the difference compared to times past. Through education we set up a democracy, got rid of slavery and segregation and gave women equal rights. Got rid of sweat shops and built in social safety nets so people didn't starve like in times past. None of those things were true heretofore. Morality has to do with how people treat each other. Nothing else.
