"The rationale wasn't bogus."

The rationale was bogus. There were rumors about unlikely ranges for the Iranian missiles. None of which have proven to be anywhere close.

The missile of most concern is the Sejil-2. The rest are liquid fuel, limited range or both. And even the Sejil-2 is questionable. Though the tests were hailed as successes, they really weren't. The Iranians also claim a range of 2000-2500 km., but there is no way to verify that and lots of reasons to be skeptical. US intelligence agencies earlier felt that Iran was at least 6 years from being able to field a missile with the needed range and throw weight to hit some parts of Europe, and it looks as if they now think that is overly ambitious.

It is your "knowledge" that is bogus.
