First Amendment. The Supreme Court ruled that corporations were persons and allowed all the rights of persons in the 1890s. Actually, they didn't rule that way. That was an aside by the Chief Justice, who was deep into bribes by the various corporate trusts, to another ruling, but close enough for the corps to go pushing the propaganda everywhere.

The corporate bribes, er, contributions, are only part of the story. The other part is the high paying jobs the corps offer govt. servants after they leave govt.

But this problem is a lot like the drug war. You have users and offerers of money. I think the first trick is to make the election process much shorter and dramatically less expensive, much as they do in England. If you don't need bribes to run a campaign to keep your cushy job, then you are somewhat less likely to accept bribes.

The idea of corps giving the contribution amount to their employees is moot. Ain't gonna do it. The employees only get bonuses if the bosses can get 100 times more.
