Here's a quote from Yahoo business news: Boucher said he saw a ''troubling trend'' in Intel's October bookings and microprocessor unit shipments.

''With October winding down, our industry checks indicate that microprocessor unit demand has not shown any meaningful improvement versus the previous quarter,'' he said. ''This is a troubling trend, since Q4 is ususally a period in which unit demand is relatively strong.''

Citing conversations with Asia/Pacific analysts, Boucher said PC and motherboard build rates had failed to improve in the region this quarter, and slowing PC consumption there would likely translate into reduced worldwide growth in the fourth quarter and through 1998.
