I had the same experience with the ST-Owners.com website. They have a spammer test that forces one to interpret a very hard-to-read combination of six case-sensitive letters and numbers. I need a day or two to rest up from my own travels and extremely busy summer, but I'm considering going over to help out. I think Smithee is overloaded and do not want to make him decide for me whether I go. He has quite enough on his plate. An aside which may make sense to you if not everyone on the GITS: The country where all this is taking place is the very same traversed by Lloyd Magruder 146 years ago. I can visualize virtually all of it in my head, and draw a fairly accurate map from memory.
