Your Dad was right. In my business, I don't engage in politics or religion with customers. They sometimes try to get me started but I won't "play." Not the time or the place.

Never discuss politics or religion with your customers.
First thing my wife learned at Pan Am flight attendant training school in Miami. Something I also learned before starting my own business. Something which has served as well, businesswise at least.
