Try visiting India ... or almost any Muslim country. Even the Chinese have their own unwavering belief the the "Middle Kingdom" and its culture are destined to hold inevitable sway over their region. Ask a Miao or a Uyghur or Tibetan if the Chinese are idealogues. This is just from my personal experience traveling. Depending on the issue, most nations seem to have their self-serving blind spots - the US included. We have many but perhaps our most potentially fatal is the belief that we are guaranteed sumptuous (comparative) material comfort.
