Thanks (everyone) for putting me straight. However, I still have some doubts about how the IMF sales will coordinate with central bank sales.

Google tells me:

"..treaty was signed by the big European banks, capping the level of central bank gold sales at 400 tonnes per year ....."

The IMF gold sales will take place over an extended period of time (how long ?). It is my understanding that they will be within the 400 tonnes per year capping. i.e. Total gold sales of the central banks plus the IMF will still not exceed 400 tonnes per year.

I cannot find confirmation of this belief. Does anyone know if this is so ?
